BMW has launched the all-new 1 Series premium hatchback in India.
The new car boasts BMW’s signature features including EfficientDynamics and of course, sheer driving pleasure.
The all-new 1 Series is available in petrol and diesel, powered by engines from their new range of forced induction, four-cylinder motors which deliver typically Bavarian levels of performance but with much lower emissions and fuel consumption figures. The 116i petrol is equipped with the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol making 136 PS and 220 Nm of torque .The 118d is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine making 143 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Both cars sport the company’s 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear-wheels. This sets it apart from its primary competitors the Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class cars as well as the Audi Q3 S Edition and the Volvo V40 Cross Country, all of which are front-driven.
BMW has introduced the 1 Series in one petrol and three diesel trims. The car wil lbe assembled at the company’s plant in Chennai. The 116i standard trim is priced at Rs 20.90 lakh. The 118d standard trim is available from Rs 22.90 lakh, with the higher ‘Sport’ and properly loaded ‘Sport Plus’ trims available from Rs 25.90 lakh and Rs 29.90 lakh respectively. The variants available for the diesel puts them in an interesting position considering that every model they will compete with only offers one variant each.
