The Levante Hybrid’s powertrain, which it shares with the Ghibli Hybrid, is essentially a 48-volt mild-hybrid set-up. It comprises a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine good for 330 hp and 450 Nm, with the 48V 9.0-kW integrated starter-generator, called the “eBooster”, and a 350-Wh battery pack, assisting the engine with up to 12 hp, instant torque, quick and silent stop-start, recuperation, and several more functions which help enhance fuel efficiency. An eight-speed automatic and an intelligent all-wheel-drive system handle power transmission duty.

As part of the brand’s voyage towards electrification, the Maserati Levante Hybrid gets bold blue cobalt illumination details all around. The three iconic side air-ducts, the brake calipers and the C-pillar logo all get the blue treatment. The same shade of blue appears inside the car, too, specifically on the embroidered seams of the seats. The Levante Hybrid is also characterised by a new metallic tri-coat colour called Azzurro Astro, available as part of the brand’s customisation programme, Maserati Fuoriserie.

Furthermore, Maserati have made the Levante Hybrid’s weight distribution even better by placing the battery in the rear, without compromising the load capacity thereby optimally balancing the mass of the vehicle, making it more agile and fun to drive. Maseratis are renowned for their dynamic and exhilarating driving experience, which is partly due to their musical exhaust sound. To obtain the same sporty sound character on the Levante Hybrid’s 2.0-litre engine, engineers at Maserati had to completely redesign an exhaust system that delivers the same sound experience while lowering emission levels.

The Levante Hybrid is connected, thanks to the new Maserati Connect program that enables an eye to be kept on the car’s health. The program will alert the driver when a service is due, improving the customer care experience. With a smartphone or smartwatch, drivers can stay in contact with their car via the Maserati Connect App. This is also possible from home via their virtual personal assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assist.

The Levante Hybrid is rated at 10.31 km/litre and as low as 220 g/km of CO2. It dismisses zero to 100 km/h in six seconds and gets up to 240 km/h. Prices start from €83,717 (approximately Rs 72 lakh) in Germany, When it gets to India, however, expect a price of around Rs 1.8 crore. Maserati are also set to launch the MC20 after the Levante Hybrid in India around the third quarter of 2022.
