We knew for some reason that this was destined to happen. German heavyweights Volkswagen have given a slight twist to their iconic Beetle car.
Stated by many to be the biggest breakthrough yet in technology integration within automobiles, Volkswagen took the wraps of their iBeetle concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. The car which cost around forty times more than your iPhone is a joint offering by Apple and Volkswagen, and, if sources are to believed it’s actually the Beetle brand which is looking to get a much-needed publicity lift from Apple.
Although this is a concept only, the significant feature is the integration of the Apple iPhone 5 cradle which has been built in the dash, A fuel-economy calculator and route-comparison features astride this iCar. Apart from this, all the usual iPhone functions like entertainment and communication go hand in hand with the vehicle in-built setup. What is even more appealing is the fact that VW’s top management has confirmed that the aptly named iBeetle and iBeetle Cabriolet will go on sale at the beginning of 2014. And, even though technical specs have not been revealed yet, we are sure that Volkswagen and Apple aficionados will be hoping to add the iBeetle to their collection.
