Off the back of speculative articles that have recently surfaced in the Indian media, Volkswagen have cleared the air regarding the rumours about the current generation of their luxury sedan, the Passat being pulled off the markets.
This news was perpetrated in press outlets across India, and claimed that the current model of the Passat was being hauled out of the showrooms due to poor sales figures, and it would be replaced by a newer model soon.
Reacting to these stories, Volkswagen have released an unequivocal denial about the whole situation from their end. The Indian wing of Volkswagen said in a statement that they will in fact continue to sell the Passat in India, and will also keep their dealerships well stocked with parts and spares as well. They also went on to confirm that while the next stage in the evolution of the Passat line is under process it will not be introduced to the Indian market any time soon.
Passat owners fearing that they wouldn’t receive appropriate parts and servicing that they may require in the future can now rest assured, safe in the knowledge that their needs will continue to be taken care of. While prospective customers too can continue to count on the Passat as an active part of the plethora of sedans on available in the country.
