When Porsche India Director Anil Reddi handed over the keys of a Panamera Diesel to cricketer Kapil Dev on Friday, it marked the company’s first ever delivery of a Panamera Diesel in the country.
The car, featuring a 3.0 l V6 diesel engine, is now on sale at a price of just over Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom New Delhi). The car was developed from the start as a four-seater with equal attention to the comfort of all four occupants. It stretches 4.97 m long and is just 142 cm high. For improved driving dynamics, it features steel springs, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive damper control, and adaptive air suspension with optional additional air volume. This allows a spread of suspension characteristics that allows enhanced ride comfort and sporty driving dynamics.
The Panamera Diesel, with a range of over 1,200 km, serves as a long-range cruiser combining features from Porsche’s Gran Turismo family with high fuel economy and strong torque, typical of diesel vehicles. Its 3.0l V6 engine incorporates auto start/stop, CRDi technology, an electrically controlled variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), and controlled exhaust gas recirculation for emission control. Typically for a diesel, 550 Newton metres of rated torque are applied. In combination with the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the 253 PS engine powers the vehicle from 0-100 kph in just 6.8 seconds, with in-gear acceleration from 80-120 kmph in 4.5 seconds.
