Corner after corner I started pushing it harder, since there was no protest of any sort from the front end, ever. It stuck to the tarmac like it was meant to do just that. Slight steering inputs and the car would turn in the desired direction as if it were on rails. The A3 Cabriolet’s stability is absolutely spot-on, no matter who is behind the wheel. It does exactly what you want and then some. It inspires you to push it harder every time you see a set of corners. It simply puts a big ol’ smirk on your face.
One more reason why I wasn’t able to stop smiling was because of the safety assured by the brilliant set of electronics aids such as ABS, traction control, and stability control, which were working hard to keep everything in line. Stopping too was fantastic, shedding excessive speed before entering a corner required just a simple tap on the brake pedal and when you really need to stop, the huge callipers bite the vented discs just enough, so that you come to a complete stop very smoothly.
Would I buy this cute A3 Cabriolet? My obvious answer would be, yes. Not because it is the most affordable (at Rs 45-50 lakh) Cabriolet in the country, but because it is one of the best cars available in the market today. It has the perfect dimensions for a country like ours and since it is a convertible, it will have a high novelty factor as compared to similarly priced saloons. However, I would buy it more for its superb engine, superior ride quality, comfort, handling, and overall build quality. And, of course, I will be awarded with a host of gizmos and gadgets that would have a youngster jumping up and down with excitement. I don’t mind the steep price either, it is something that I will be paying for exclusivity, making a style statement and showing off my (if I had it) flamboyant lifestyle.
