Lamborghini took the wraps off their one-off show-stopper, the Egoista, at a private event during their 50th anniversary celebrations.
The Egoista is a single-seat supercar, designed for individuals, and appears to be based on the Gallardo.
Bringing the power is the high-revving, 5.2-litre V10 engine from the Gallardo, tuned up to 600 PS. The styling is akin to the Apache combat helicopter, with a cockpit which looks perfectly balanced dead centre. The car’s lighting doesn’t really include what we are used to seeing on a road car. You have LED clearance lights up front, orange markers low on the side profile and a pair of red tail lamps, with a flashing red stop lamp mounted on the wing. There’s also a couple of lights on the roof, one red and the other green. Very unconventional to say the least. Other styling details include the Italian tri-colour finding place on the sharp lines rising from just behind the front wheel arch. And you just can’t miss those orange wheels.
On the inside, there’s a racing seat. Just one, of course, and it has a four-point seat belt with a supplementary airbag system. There’s a head-up display for the driver as well. Interestingly, to get out of the car, the driver is required to remove the steering wheel. Very F1 then.
The Egoista is not really confirmed as a concept, much less as an intended production model. If it does find itself being out on sale, expect the scenario to be much like it’s bigger sibling, the Veneno, in terms of availability and pricing.
