The wait is finally over, Nissan India has confirmed that their highly awaited SUV, the Terrano, will be officially unveiled in India on August 20.
The Duster-based SUV will be the first offering from the Renault-Nissan alliance in the Indian market. Nissan had earlier revealed two sketches of the SUV. When the news of the Terrano broke cover in June 2013, Nissan had stated that the Terrano would be priced under Rs 9 lakh; at a slight premium over the Renault Duster. Like the Duster, it will be offered with the 1.5-litre dCi K9K diesel motor in both 85 PS and 110 PS states of tune. The line-up is expected to comprise of the XL, XL Option, XV and XV Premium variants.
With Renault’s revival in the Indian market, courtesy the Duster’s impressive sales figures, Nissan are looking for something similar with the Terrano. There are no significant changes, save for the inclusion of better quality materials and higher equipment levels. As per the sketches, the Terrano would be a bit more masculine than the Duster; reminiscent of Nissan’s global SUVs. Official sources have also revealed that the Nissan Terrano will go on sale by October 2013 in the sub-continent.
