Toyota’s Indian presence will soon go through a bit of power shift, as current Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hiroshi Nakagawa will be returning to Japan soon. In his place, Toyota Kirloskar Motor have proposed the appointment of current General Manager Naomi Ishii who is set to take Nakagawa’s place as the new MD. This appointment will be rubber stamped formally on the 6th of January 2014 when Toyota’s Board of Directors convene.
Ishii will be walking into what is a steady ship though, judging by the latest figures from International market research experts J.D. Power. According to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2013 India Initial Quality Study (IQS), the Innova is ranked as a leader in its segment again this year, making it the leader in this category for the 7th time in a row now. The Fortuner too is a segment leader and a repetitive one, as this makes it back-to-back no.1 titles due to its victory in its category last year as well. The recognition is rounded up by the Corolla Altis, that also tops it’s own category for the first time in it’s history in the Indian market specific J.D. Power rankings.
