As reported in these columns earlier, the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire recently underwent an upgrade and this new generation car has now been launched in the Indian market.
Available in seven variants, the DZire will come in both diesel and petrol options. While the diesel engine is the same as in the earlier generation DZire, the petrol variant gets a new 1.2-litre K-Series with VVT. One of the petrol variants also gets an automatic transmission option. Maruti Suzuki have cut down the overall length of the new DZire to 3,995 mm to fit it in the sub four-meter bracket for excise relief. This has helped the company in pricing the DZire very competitively between Rs 4.9 lakh to Rs 7.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
