Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher is all set to get behind the wheels of the Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas Silver Arrow for a demonstration lap at the famous Nurburgring circuit.

As part of the run-up celebrations to the 24 hours Nurburgring races, the former F1 star will be putting the single-seater car through its paces. The event which has been scheduled to take place on 19th May on the famed Nordschleife ‘loo’ will mark the first outing of the modern-day Formula One Silver Arrow at Nurburgring, exactly 59 years after the original Silver Arrow driven by F1 legend Juan Manuel Fangio at this iconic circuit way back in 1954.

Speaking to the media at the official unveiling of the event, Schmacher stated, “I have a lot of fond memories of the Nürburgring and am really looking forward to giving fans and friends from my home town of Kerpen, which is quite close to the Nürburgring, something to remember as they see me drive by. But it will be a fantastic experience for me too, driving along the Nordschleife in a state-of–the-art Formula 1 Silver Arrow, particularly in view of the fact that the Silver Arrow’s legend began here. Posting a lap in a modern Silver Arrow on the most beautiful and most testing circuit in the world, what a brilliant mix – it’s every motor racing driver’s dream!”
Widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, Schumacher retired from the sport in 2012, with seven world championships, 91 wins and 155 podiums to his name.
