Rio Olympic silver medalist P.V Sindhu and bronze medalist Sakshi Malik were felicitated by Mahindra and Mahindra with the award of their 4×4 off-roader, the Mahindra Thar.
The keys of the car were handed over by Dr Pawan Goenka, Executive director M&M Ltd to both the athletes on the occasion. Speaking at the ceremony he said “It is my pleasure to felicitate Sindhu and Sakshi with the Mahindra Thar as they put India on the global map with their historic victory.” The Felicitation of both the athletes with Thar symbolises the association of three strong entities.”
P V Sindhu won the olympic silver medal in Badminton and also became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal in the history of the Olympics. At this special occasion the star shutler commented “I am thankful to Mahindra for recognising my efforts and encouraging me to excel in future matches. The Thar is an iconic off-roader and I am looking forward to owning and driving this stylish off-roader.”
Sakshi Malik won the bronze medal and became the first woman wrestler to win a medal. She Said “ I am very pleased to own the Thar and would especially like to thank Mr Mahindra for this very special gesture and the #TharForSakshi Twitter Campaign, which received overwhelming support. With its rugged looks and power-packed performance, the Thar is indeed a great compliment to my personality”.
