In order to increase their market share and keep the momentum going, manufacturers have to keep updating their cars constantly. The Nissan Sunny has received a facelift and we were invited to Port Blair to test the latest offering from Nissan. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are unspoilt as there is hardly any tourist traffic and development.
The facelift is restricted only to the exterior and interior of the car, with no technical updates. Most of these updates are on the XV diesel variant. The petrol car gets the new headlights and radiator grille at the front and a new boot-lid at the rear. The interior is has also been updated with the Micra piano black centre console and leather upholstery and a new steering wheel, giving the car a more luxurious feel.
The top-end XV diesel variant gets all the updates of the XL CVT petrol and more. At the front there is lot of chrome, starting with the new radiator grille which is common to both. The XV diesel has fog-lamps with chrome garnish and the lower air intake also gets a chrome strip. The side of the car gets some chrome treatment in the form of door-handles and window trims. The number-plate light at the rear is chromed to round off the package.
