After recently launching the all-new fourth generation Range Rover, with the TDV6 model only just launched in India; Land Rover have revealed another ‘efficient’ version – the SCV6.

The new Range Rover SCV6 is powered by Jaguar Land Rover’s new supercharged, direct injection V6 petrol engine, which debuted in the F-type sports car and went on to feature in the XF and XJ all-wheel-drive models for Europe. The supercharged 3.0L V6 features dual intelligent variable cam timing (DiVCT) and makes 340 PS at 6,500 rpm with a healthy 450 Nm of torque coming in between 3,500 and 5,000 rpm. It is paired to the same eight-speed ZF automatic transmission driving all four wheels. The performance is pleasantly surprising for a V6 engined large SUV. The lightweight construction allows a 0-100 km/h time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. This engine was designed from the outset to be used in Range Rover models as well. It replaces the 375 PS naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 offered in the previous model Range Rover. Though slightly less powerful, the new SCV6 is 15% more efficient than the V8. It is also capable of handling extreme tilt angles of up to 45 degrees, allows a wading depth of up to 900 mm and comes with a tow rating of up to 3,500 kg. What’s more, a hybrid driveline based around this new V6 is also expected to be shortly announced by the company.

The new Range Rover SCV6 could make it to India after its international debut as there is a notable customer base who prefer luxury SUVs powered by refined petrol engines, rather then their diesel counterparts.
