JLR India has launched the Jaguar XJ Ultimate, a high-tech and opulent version of the long-wheelbase XJ.
The changes focus on enhancing rear seat accommodation and aim to provide a full-service business class experience, on the lines of a private jet.
The rear seat has a full-length, leather-trimmed centre console that demarcates two individually tailored rear seats, both of which have functions for power adjustment, ventilation, massage and lumbar support. A touch of a button brings up a solid-aluminum table (with piano-black and chrome detailing) from the centre console, serving as a working area in support with two third-generation Apple iPads with wireless keyboards housed in bespoke leather-trimmed docks in the rear of the front seats.
A bespoke champagne chiller mounted between the rear seats ‘presents’ a properly-chilled bottle when the chiller is opened. There are also two specially commissioned champagne flutes placed within a purpose-built cabinet under the centre table. Other highlights of the full rear seat package include twin headrest screens and wireless headphones working in combination with a 20-speaker surround sound entertainment system by Meridian Audio.
On the outside, changes include sculpted lower air intakes in chrome to match the grille, polished stainless steel oval exhaust pipe finishers, dual-surface alloy wheels, and ‘Ultimate’ badging.
The XJ Ultimate uses a revised suspension setup claimed to optimise rear ride comfort. The car is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine with a maximum power output of 510 PS and a maximum torque of 625 Nm, or a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel. Both versions come with RWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The XJ Ultimate is priced at INR 18,796,544 for the V8 5.0 S/C Ultimate LWB and INR 17,824,481 for the 3.0L Diesel Ultimate LWB (both ex-showroom Mumbai, pre-octroi).
