Jaguar will take the wraps off the new XJR at the upcoming New York International Motor Show.
This will be the most powerful XJ money can buy. It retains all the essential luxury features and creature comforts of the original car but with added dynamism and elevated levels of performance. Under the bonnet is the supercharged 5.0L V8 engine from the XKR-S sports coupé making 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque. While that is extremely sweet sounding in itself, the good news doesn’t stop there. It’s not just the engine which has been changed. The bespoke chassis and updated aerodynamics mean the XJR will deliver typically British luxury with supercar levels of performance, increased agility and responsiveness.
Adrian Hallmark, the Global Brand Director of Jaguar stated, “The new XJR epitomises the three pillars of technology, performance and contemporary design which the Jaguar brand stands for in the twenty-first century, while delivering new levels of dynamic ability in a luxury saloon.” This new dynamic flagship of the XJ range will compete head-on with the likes of the Mercedes S 63 AMG, BMW 760Li and Audi A8 W12. If it does come to India, expect the price tag to be just shy of the Rs 2 crore mark.
