Begin production of the Brio at Greater Noida plant
HONDA SIEL CARS INDIA LTD (HSCI) have announced re-commencement of the production of their Brio hatchback at their Greater Noida plant.
The company has been under severe production constraints since November 2011 following the fl oods in Thailand. HSCI had to suspend the production of the Brio in January because the company sourced some of its electronic and under-body parts from Thailand.
HSCI are looking at manufacturing 370 to 440 cars per day. Jnaneswar Sen, the company’s senior vice-president for marketing and sales, said, “Honda have been carefully monitoring the part supply process and have taken all the necessary recovery actions to normalise [the] production situation with critical components now being sourced from Japan and China.”
Honda Siel can produce up to 1,00,000 cars per annum at their Greater Noida facility.
According to the company, production of the new City has already been resumed and that more than 1,500 units of this model were manufactured in January this year. Sen added that the production of the Brio car has also already been resumed and that of the Jazz would follow suit.
