Instead of a conventional music system, the Go+ has a Mobile Docking Station (MDS), comprising a holder for a mobile phone/tablet/portable music player, an aux-in port for audio and USB port for charging, a rotary knob for volume control, and one speaker in each door. Being mounted in front of an a-c vent, the MDS restricts the flow of air for passengers and also subjects the mobile device to a constant cold air blast. No provision exists for speakers in the rear doors or the boot.

The plastics are hard and feel cheap, and only front power windows are available. The spacious front door pockets can hold a bottle each, but the front passenger does without a roof-mounted grab-handle.

Nissan claim that the Go+ creates a new market segment: the compact MPV. The third row, though, is extremely cramped – I am not very tall but even my head fouled with the roof, and my knees were six inches above hip level. This row is best for very small children, and even better if folded down as it then liberates much-needed boot space.

The front passenger seat extends right up to the driver seat for a bucket-cum-bench layout of sorts, to create space for miscellaneous belongings; safety could be compromised as Indian drivers just might seat a second passenger there! The flat seats are low on under-thigh and back support, but front and second-row passengers have abundant knee-room.

Safety has been compromised on — the second- and third-row seat-belts are the non-pull-back type, headrests are non-adjustable, and airbags, ABS or other safety kit is not being offered even as an option.

With the third row up, boot space is a measly 48 litres, expanding to a sensible 347 litres with the third row down.
