Ferrari and Pininfarina creates one-off supercar for the iconic guitarist
The iconic British guitarist is universally known as Slow Hand cheekily and the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but what’s not so widely known is that he is passionate about fast cars. His favourite is the classic Ferrari 512BB, of which he’s owned three over the years.
So when Clapton got together with the engineers from Maranello and top stylists from Pininfarina to create a one of a kind special design based on the 458 Italia, there was never any doubt that it would be a sort of homage to Clapton’s love for this particular prancing horse.
Both the design team of Pininfarina and Clapton paid particular attention to the proportions of the hand-crafted body, building the shape up note by note, like a guitar solo, to produce the achingly beautiful, utterly unique creation. What is all the more appealing is the fact that even the car’s name is unique, christened SP12EC.
SP for special project, 12 for the Italia and lastly EC which stood for, obviously no guesses here Eric Clapton.
