The Employers Federation of India has issued a joint press statement on behalf of the CII, the FICCI and other important commercial and labour union bodies, in regards to the tragic killing of Awanish Kumar Dev at the Maruti factory in Manesar, stating this tragic incident as a mindless act which has rattled the nations conscience.
The deceased Awanish died at his post, while many others were also injured.
In the stated press release EFI offered it’s heartfelt condolence to Suparna, wife of Awanish, and his other family members. They also wished for a speedy recovery to those who were injured in the incident. In the Joint statement all the bodies pledged their solidarity to utilize their power to ensure that such tragedies do not recur in the future and, in ensuring that the investigations are conducted in a effective manner, and the guilty are bought in front of the law for judgment.
Mr. Sharad Patil, Secretary General, EFI stated, ‘The killing of Awanish Kumar Dev and the accompanying violence, will remain a blot on the country’s image and, going forward, every Indian should endeavour to ensure that such barbaric acts are never repeated. The progressive work culture in India’s shop floors has been admired worldwide, and India’s reputation as an investment destination must be protected.’
