Citroen C3

The “PureTech 110” engine under the bonnet is a peppy 1.2-litre, three-pot, turbo-petrol that kicks out a commendable 110 hp and 190 Nm, the latter of which is available from just 1,750 rpm. Those figures are reminiscent of the extremely popular 1.3-litre “MultiJet” turbo-diesel engine that drove into the sunset some time ago. The torque spread is thicker than butter on an Irani Café bun and is plentiful from the get-go. The turbo motor is exclusively paired with a six-speed manual which drives the front wheels. The C3 feels potent at low speeds and musters enough strength to pull off overtakes. It pulls cleanly as well getting up to speed quickly. The highlight, however, is the ride quality.

The French sure have a way with suspension geometry and the C3 is yet another outstanding example. The ride is sublime. It soaks up bumps and undulations are dealt with effortlessly with excellent damping characteristics for compression and rebound, making for a sure-footed and planted feel. The steering feels nice and on point, too. The turning circle is also very compact with a radius of less than five metres. The C3 offers a pleasant and stress-free ride at city speeds and has commendable performance at highway speeds as well. With a gene pool that includes 2CV, DS, the—personal pillowy favourite from the brand—C4 Cactus Airflow, and, of course, the C5 Aircross, the C3 has some serious heritage. We hope Citroen price the C3 competitively in order to make good their targets. It’s a genuinely good car and more people need to get out there and experience the difference. For someone moving up from, say, a Renault Kwid or other small hatchbacks, the C3 is a worthy next step up.

In addition, there is “Citroen Future Sure”, a financing plan which ensures peace of mind and comfort while owning a Citroen. Should one choose this program, they would have to make an “attractive” monthly payment for up to five years. This includes all motoring expenses such as maintenance, warranty, roadside assistance, and on-road financing. Following that period, one can choose to keep driving the C3 by making the final payment on the loan or go ahead and trade in the C3 for a new model.
