Chevrolet India have launched their second MUV in the country today, the Enjoy.
Their first of course, was the Tavera, a car which has seen success in the tourist taxi industry, with good numbers in the private market as well. The Enjoy will be positioned below the Tavera and will carry a competitive price tag, going up against the likes of the Mahindra Quanto, while also giving Maruti Eeco customers a more upmarket alternative.
Powering the Enjoy are a 1.4-litre petrol engine making 104 PS and the familiar FIAT-sourced 1.3-litre common-rail diesel engine with 78 PS. Interestingly, both engines are mounted longitudinally for rear-wheel-drive application in the Enjoy; the first time FIAT’s popular diesel engine has been subjected to this layout in India. A five-speed manual transmission is standard across the range. Chevrolet have also provided a lot of kit as standard as far as creature comforts and safety features go. The Enjoy is available in four variants each in petrol and diesel. The top-end variant boasts of airbags, ABS and an audio system with modern connectivity features.
We drove the Enjoy earlier and found it to be quite a good car overall. It handles well and passenger comfort is good even in the third row. The only quip is the lack of storage space and the fact that it could do with a little more power.
Chevrolet have launched the Enjoy from Rs 5.49 lakh for the base LS-9 seater petrol, going up to Rs 7.99 lakh for the top-end LTZ-7 seater diesel; all prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
