The Boxster GTS is an amazing work of engineering. Yes, a 911 is slightly larger and more powerful, but this roadster, this is the one if you want it all without having it all. I should mention that in non-Sport and Sport Plus modes the ride – even with 35-profile rubber on 20” wheels – is sublime. The chassis is taut and firm, but the damping is exceptional. I recall no instances where a thud or a jolt upset me or the car. Not one. And this was after the car had just been through its fair share of what I can only call urban off-roading. Add to all that the fuel efficiency figures: 4.5 km/l in the city and a more reasonable 7.5 km/l on the highway. It only sips quality brew, but that shouldn’t be a problem if the Rs 1.13 crore price-tag doesn’t make you cringe.
There is another important aspect which the Boxster GTS has to offer — that 3.4-litre Boxer is naturally aspirated, no blowers or compressors to whistle or whine back at you. It’s pure engine that sips pure petrol and delivers pure pleasure. You don’t need a jet plane to get away from it all. There are two boots that can handle all your bags, and, I swear, by the end of it, I could hear her sing to me and ask me to hold her like I’d never let her go.
