A few more horses, a few more twists and a lot more thrill. With a slew of new electronics and a masterpiece of an engine, is the Boxster GTS the ultimate expression of style and precision performance that Porsche always wanted it to be?

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go. I’m standing here outside this gorgeous Porsche’s door. Already I’m so excited, I just want to drive. Yes, a roadster is usually imagined with blue skies, the sun shining bright, giving the corner of your shades a sparkle, and a light wind blowing through your hair. However, we weren’t so lucky, no. The sky was almost the 50th shade of grey, and a light drizzle threatened to turn into a downpour which would relegate our soft-top cabriolet to a fixed head if we didn’t hurry.
So, here goes. Porsche have finally launched the Boxster GTS, the most hardcore Boxer-powered roadster variant on sale in India. What’s so special? Well, the changes are plentiful and they aren’t just cosmetic. Yes, those gorgeous lines looked sculpted and the chrome name tag is replaced by black lettering, which, on our silver car and in those lighting conditions, defined contrast.
Porsche, of course, have spared no spoils on the standard equipment list, which includes the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS) and its active bi-xenon headlamps. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is also standard, as are the massive 20” black wheels with 35-profile tyres. Then there’s the sports exhaust system complete with twin black tail-pipes in the centre of the special rear bumper which looks like it acts as a diffuser. Very neat.
