Bentley have taken the wraps of their latest masterpiece. The Mulsanne Speed. The very heart of the Speed is Bentley’s power packed 6.75 litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, which has been re-engineered with a totally new combustion system which includes tweaks and alterations to the fuel injectors, spark plugs, combustion chamber, inlet ports and compression ratio. A recalibrated gearbox gives the driver better control as well as an instantaneous turbocharged kick on flooring the pedal. This re-engineered Mulsanne Speed engine churns out 537 PS and 1,110 Nm of torque, which powers the Bentley to clock the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds, and races away to attain a top speed of 305km/h.
Apart from the re-engineered engine, the Mulsanne Speed gets a new Sport mode, which includes modifications to the suspension system, steering wheel and the chassis, which allows the driver to utilize the Bentley’s power and speed effortlessly. The other interesting feature is the Mulsanne Speed claims to be 13% more efficient, extending the fuel range to 80 km.
Bentley, known for their luxury cars tweaked the exteriors and the interiors of the Mulasnne Speed giving it a more special touch. On the exterior, the Mulsanne Speed sports a dark tint finish to the matrix grilles, lower bumper grilles, wing vents and radiator grille. The car also gets the first ever 21-inch, directional style wheel-designed specifically for the right and left side of the car, twin rifled steel exhaust tailpipes, Speed badging and four new paint colors – Spectre, Candy Red, Camel and Marlin add a classy aura to the car.
The interiors feature two-tone diamond quilted upholstery on the seats as well as the door panels, embroidered Bentley emblems on all seats, drilled alloy foot pedals and indented hide headlining. Matching up with the exquisite material finish, the Mulsanne Speed comes with a 60-GB on-board hard drive, rear seats entertainment systems which include two 8-inch touch screens, Wi-Fi router and Bluetooth connectivity.
Bentley plans to unveil the Mulasnne Speed on 2nd October 2014 at the Paris Motor Show and will be available for delivery by this winter. The company also plans to launch the 2015 Signature Mulsanne ultra-luxury sedan, with the same 6.75 litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, tuned to produce 512 PS and 1,020 Nm of torque. The Signature Mulsanne will be launched to compliment the performance-based Mulsanne Speed.
