Modular Efficient Program (MEP) to get two new technologies.
Audi’s Modular Efficient Program or MEP is an integral part of most of their current models. For 2009, this program will get two new technologies for better efficiency and greener functionality. The first comes in the form of an energy recovery system which recycles the energy while decelerating or braking to feed the electrical systems. The other tech comes in the form of the now well-known start-stop mechanism. Audi claims that this technology will lower fuel consumption by 0.2 percent per 100km, thereby reducing CO2 emissions by up to five percent. Expect these new technologies to reach India by late 2009.
