Ashok-Leyland will soon launch their version of Nissan’s Evalia.
Called the Stile; the new MPV has been caught testing around Chennai dressed in camo.
The Stile will be priced lower than the Evalia and thus makes do with a more functional and rather basic layout. The front grille has been replaced with a more conventionally styled unit with a revised air dam and bumper as well. While the headlamps on the showcased car were a twin projector setup, the production model is likely to feature less-expensive halogen headlamps. Under the hood, the most likely powerplant will be the same 1.5-litre Renault-Nissan K9K diesel engine in its 86PS and 200 Nm guise. However, it could also be powered by a tuned up version of Ashok-Leyland’s own diesel motor. The company is also expected to launch a CNG version of the Stile to follow.
With the Nissan Evalia price starting from just below Rs 9 lakh ex-showroom, we can expect the Stile to undercut it by a fair margin. An official source stated that it should reach the showroom within the next six months.
