You, the readers, are in the driver’s seat again. It’s time for the annual Car India and Bike India Awards, and your vote determines which car comes out at the top of the pile. As always, there are goodies up for grabs for those who vote, so choose wisely.

 

Candidates for Car India readers choice awards 2014:

  1. Hyundai Grand i10: The new hatch off the Hyundai block, the Grand i10 has made quite a splash in the Indian market so far. What sets it apart is its abundant space and sheer value for money.

  1. Mahindra Verito Vibe: The Verito Vibe is a breakaway from tradition when you look at Mahindra’s track record in terms of car genres, but isn’t any less adequate because of it. The Vibe is a comfortable, fuel-efficient hatchback.

  1. GM Chevrolet Sail Sedan: Chevy compact sedan is a good car with an impressive interior and an even better price-tag. Offered with good engine options the Sail sedan has already impressed many.

  1. Honda Amaze: The Amaze is a tidy, straightforward entry-level sedan that’s caught the eye of thousands of Indians. It’s high on efficiency, space and reliability. A solid car all around.

  1. Toyota Camry Hybrid: Toyota have always been one of the frontrunners in the global hybrid scenario, and the Camry is one of their flag-bearers. It’s clean, efficient and good for the environment.

  1. Mahindra e2o: The natural successor to the popular Reva, the e2o is the physical embodiment of Mahindra’s vision for an electric car. Being fully automatic and of an appreciable size, the e2o is convenience epitomized.

  1. Nissan Terrano: A result of the Nissan-Renault alliance, the Terrano draws inspiration from the Renault Duster engineering-wise. The Terrano brings a new dimension to the Indian crossover segment with its fine handling and nifty ride quality.

  1. Ford EcoSport: When initially announced, the EcoSport generated a lot of buzz due to its revolutionary EcoBoost engine and tempting price. This compact SUV has caught on to the growing trend and gained immense traction in the Indian market.

  1. Jeep Wrangler: The famed American off-roader brand has finally arrived in India, and one of its first contributions is the Wrangler. This 4×4 behemoth is the physical embodiment of the go-anywhere attitude.

  1. Mercedes-Benz GL: The GL-Class is Mercedes-Benz interpretation of what an SUV should be like. It brings the classic comfort levels of a Mercedes and moulds it with the exploratory nature of a big 4×4.

  1. Range Rover Sport: The epitome of British engineering, the Range Rover Sport is making headway in the Indian premium SUV segment. The two engine variants offered by Land Rover mean this car caters to a wide audience.

  1. Chevrolet Enjoy: The Enjoy is a proper family van made to cater for the big Indian family. Its roomy interior and superior handling make this Chevvy stand out in its segment.

  1. Mercedes-Benz A-Class: Mercedes-Benz have pretty much every segment covered through their vast array of vehicles on offer in India, and the A-Class falls under the ambit of luxury compact car, and is a highly enjoyable drive.

  1. BMW 1 Series: The tiny Beamer’s deceptively small looks belie a spacious interior. This RWD is great fun to drive and makes the 1 Series a force to be reckoned with in the premium hatch segment.

  1. Volvo V40: Swedish giants Volvo’s smallest offering here is the V40 ‘Cross Country.’ This car is big on safety, performs well, and offers decent fuel economy figures too, making it a definite contender among its peers.

  1. Jaguar F-Type: Indian-owned British giants Jaguar have brought their power packed F-Type to Indian shores. The F-Type marries unbridled power with amazingly good looks, and is a proper heavyweight in India’s supercar market.

 

  1. Porsche Cayman: Porsche are known for their fast, technologically proficient car designs, and the Cayman is no exception. One of the speediest cars available in this part of the world, the Cayman also handles like a dream.
