AD01_2012Tenaciously1AD01_2012Tenaciously2MRF recently launched the ZLO series of tyres. We quickly grabbed a set for our long-term Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been with us for about 6,000 kilometres now and just as we were thinking of new rubber for it came this new offering from MRF – the ZLO. So the MRF ZLO 195/60 R15 replaced the stock MRF ZVTV 185/65 R15. The main difference between the stock ZVTV and the new ZLO is that the latter features an asymmetric tread pattern. This kind of pattern has been adopted for better grip especially in wet conditions. A new polymer blend has been used for better grip. On the styling front, the sidewall design has been revamped to make the tyres look better.

As soon as we put the tyres on, the first thing we noticed was that the road noise level dipped considerably. The grip was the second thing to show marked improvement. During hard cornering, the tyres gripped firmly and reduced the car’s understeer drastically.

We also hooked on our testing equipment and checked the stopping time from 80 km/h. While the stock tyres brought the car to a stop from 80 km/h in 2.96 seconds, the ZLO did so in 2.25 seconds. That meant an impressive 24 per cent lesser time. Taking into consideration all these benefits, there is no doubt that MRF have raised the standard with the ZLO series.
