After many teasers and promos, the VŪHL 05 has finally been unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and needless to say, it sure looks exciting!
Essentially built for the track, the VŪHL 05 is a mid-engined, two-seater and makes maximum use of ultra-light-weight engineering, with power coming from the 2.0-litre version of Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged inline-4 driven by a 6-speed manual gearbox. For the VŪHL 05, the engine produces 285 PS and 420 Nm of torque. If those numbers don’t astound you, these surely will. The monocoque chassis only weighs 78 kg and the dry weight of the entire car is 695 kg. Combining good power, high torque and extremely lightweight construction means a power-to-weight ratio of 410 PS/tonne. Acceleration is super-quick too, with a 0-100 km/h of 3.7 seconds; that’s Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 territory. The top speed is 245 km/h.
Built to be quick and agile, the VŪHL 05 brings a high-spec list of kit. The OZ wheels, 17-inch front and 18-inch rear, are wrapped in grippy Michelin 205/45s up front and 235/45s at the rear. The suspension system comprises unequal length double wishbones front and rear. Braking duties are handled by four-pot calipers all around, biting 310mm discs in front and 280mm discs at the rear. The car measures just over 3.7 metres long and rides on a 2300mm wheelbase, 110mm off the ground. The weight distribution is an eye-opening 37/63 (front/rear).
The company has commenced orders for the VŪHL 05 already, with deliveries set to begin in spring 2014. The price for the VŪHL 05 is £55,000 (Rs 49.50 lakh) excluding taxes.
