Inside, the Linea is almost unrecognisable when compared to its previous generation. The leather seats are set off by a dual-tone dash. The cabin is awash with a subtle orange glow emitted from the instrument cluster, infotainment system, and the strip of ambient lighting adorning the glove-box. While the seats are comfortable, the awkward driving position takes some getting used to, and makes long-distance endurance driving quite tiresome.
We managed to eke out mileage figures of 10 km/l in the city, which jumped up to 15 km/l on the highway. The mileage then is adequate, but not really the best in the mid-range sedan segment. However, the one thing in this new Linea that has stayed consistent with its previous model is the price. Starting at Rs 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the bottom rung Active petrol, and extending to Rs 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the MultiJet Emotion diesel, the pricing is quite competitive. Overall, the Linea is a rather good car, but in a market segment as competitive as this one, is good really good enough?
