Rarely is there a fault on the inside of a Škoda, and the Yeti is no exception. The dual-tone dash is solidly built, and the centre console houses a touchscreen music system that plays CDs and has Bluetooth/AUX connectivity; sadly, though, a USB port is omitted, so you cannot play music through a pen drive or charge a smartphone without an extra charger for the power socket. The climate control system has separate front and rear blowers. There are also buttons for the parking sensors and the off-road mode (more on that later).

The 416-litre boot space can be increased by folding down the rear seats or completely removing them. You can also fold down just the centre seat, the back of which now includes two cup-holders and serves as a table of sorts.

The dual-pod chrome-ringed instrument cluster houses a multi-information display that now includes a tyre-pressure monitoring system. The steering wheel, gear lever, and handbrake get leather and chrome treatment; the steering wheel also has controls for the music system, Bluetooth calling, and the new cruise control system. In place of the ignition slot is a Start-Stop button, part of the weirdly-named KESSY or Keyless Entry Start-stop SYstem.

2015 Skoda Yeti web 9The 1,968-cc turbo-diesel engine is available in the same two states of tune – 110 PS at 4,200 RPM/250 Nm at 1,500-2,500 RPM, and 140 PS at 4,200 RPM/320 Nm at 1,750-2,500 RPM. A five-speed manual transmission powers the front wheels in the former, with a six-speeder powering all wheels in the latter. Both variants use a new fifth-generation Haldex clutch system, claimed to be smoother and easier to operate.
