Mercedes-Benz strengthen their position in the premium family hatchback segment with the introduction of the new B-Class as well as a more powerful A-Class – the A200 CDI.
The new B-Class comes to India on the heels of the global launch, bringing updated styling with fresher lines and, of course, headlamps. The petrol engine in the 180 Sport is the same turbocharged 1.6-litre unit with 122 PS and 200 Nm paired to the fine seven-speed 7G-DCT automatic, but the diesel is now the 200 CDI, with the tuned up 2,143cc turbo-four now boasting of 136 PS and 300 Nm; the same spec as the CLA- and GLA-Class. The trim level for either fuelled versions is now ‘Sport’. The A-Class also receives the updated engine and trim line.
The A-Class and B-Class in 180 Sport and 200 CDI Sport guises are available at Mercedes showrooms across the country. The pricing is as follows:
- A180 Sport – Rs 25.95 lakh
- A200 CDI Sport – Rs 26.95 lakh
- B180 Sport – Rs 27.95 lakh
- B200 CDI Sport – Rs 28.95 lakh
