Uno Minda group, an auto-component group in India have joined hands with Tung Thih Electronic (TTE) to form a 50:50 joint venture in India. TTE is a Taiwan-based firm that manufactures and sells Driving Assistance Products and Systems (DAPS).

The joint venture will result in them supplying rear parking aid systems, auto parking aid systems, cameras, around view monitor systems and other equipment to Indian automobile manufacturers – TTE are current suppliers for Maruti Suzuki. They are also looking at expanding into technology like lane departure warning systems. Current plans include setting up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in NCR. Uno Minda and TTE are planning on focussing on passenger and pedestrian safety.

Let’s hope this translates into safer equipment in more of our cars at cost-effective price points and consequently, a safer driving experience.
