Hot on the launch of the V40 line, Volvo have no intent of slowing down and have revealed their new Concept Coupé model.

The new car is based on the company’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and is the first of three concepts the company have been working on, one of which is believed to be the upcoming all-new XC90.

“It is a car designer’s duty to reflect and incorporate design signatures that are vital parts of the company’s heritage. The P1800 is an iconic Volvo, renowned for its beautiful forms and detailing. However, using elements from the P1800 exterior and interior has nothing to do with being retro. We are using these subtle links to a glorious past to create a future where sheer beauty becomes a recognised part of Volvo’s identity. That journey starts with Concept Coupé,” says Thomas Ingenlath.

The new coupé will be a premium two-door model which could lead to a C30 successor, albeit in a much higher price range. Hope springs to life with thoughts of a C60, but for now that’s all there will be, unless Volvo truly have something delectable up their sleeve. What we do expect is sprightly performance, from either a forced-induction petrol or a hybrid driveline. Volvo have revealed no details about the car whatsoever, save for showcasing the stunning design and interiors which can be see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efiPbdNyhTc
