Mercedes Benz is getting serious about the growing competition in the Indian market, and in a bid to stay ahead of the competition
the company has announced an investment of Rs 840 crore in its Chakan plant by 2014. Along with this announcement, Mercedes will also start the assembly of several of its models locally starting with the M Class. Mercedes is also in the process of starting their technologically advanced paint shop at Chakan which will have an annual capacity of 20,000 units, which can go up to 40,000 units a year. The company is also planning on further investing in their dealer and service network which currently stands at 31 dealerships and 41 service outlets, for mid and long-term growth.
