The up and coming version of the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been shrouded in mystery, now though, Mercedes have lifted the lid off a little bit, and provided the automotive world with a glimpse into what the car looks like on the inside.
Technological trickery coupled with luxury and refinement seem to be the blend that he design team have gone for, and on the face of it, seem to how extracted a amicable balance between the two. From the aesthetic point of view, the C-Class has also adopted the new dashboard design as seen in S-Class, and generously lined the interiors with aluminium and wood to add a touch of style.
A lot of renovation and reinvention too has gone on with the electronics, and this refurbishment seems leaps and bounds ahead of this car’s predecessor. A massive Tablet PC style command console screen is the most dominant of these, and handles most of the car’s myriad functions. Along with this, there’s a conveniently placed TFT colour screen flanked by the dials behind the steering wheel for better visibility, a touch/scribble/swipe pad for further control and convenience, along with the clickable rotary control that was present previously as well.
The C-Class also has an integrated digital Heads Up Dispay (HUD) relaying data from the driver assistance systems, which appears floating in mid-air about 2 metres ahead of the driver. This, when incorporated with Mercedes’ voice control system and new touch pad, makes it a lot more convenient for potential drivers to keep their eyes firmly on the road while navigating through the car’s abundant technology.
The final unveil of the car is expected at the upcoming 2014 Detroit Motor Show, where it’s more minute technical specifications will also come to light.
