Nissan have announced that they will pull the covers off a completely fresh design in 10 days time for the next-gen of their popular Qashqai crossover.
While this successor to what is billed as one the first mass produced crossover designs in the history of the automobile industry is set to have its roots in the current version of the Qashqai, Nissan claim it’ll be re-developed from scratch. Further details such as the engine specifications, and release date are also expected to be announced at the unveiling.
From the Indian perspective, we know that the Qashqai is likely to be made available for sale here in 2014, and it’s also quite possible now, that we too will get this new model. If it follows in the footsteps of the current Qashqai, expect the standard 5-seater version, or the ‘+2’ 7-seater version, with the dCi110 1.5-litre K9K, or even the dCi130 1.6-litre diesel engine. The current edition also comes in both 2-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, but what combinations and permutations of the above alternatives will make their way to Indian shores will only be announced in the future, so watch this space.
