Porsche clearly knows how to make a statement and their latest Cayenne S Diesel is a perfect example of what the German sportscar maker is capable of.
Adding some more muscle to its already muscular SUV the Cayenne, Porsche recently shod this bad boy SUV with a 4.2litre twin turbo diesel V8. This beast of an engine is capable of producing 387PS of power and a mind boggling 850 Nm of torque. This has made the S Diesel the most powerful Cayenne on the block. On paper the V8 can propel the Cayenne to a 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds from standstill and it can achieve a top whack of 253 km/h. Mighty impressive for a SUV. Porsche also claims that the new engine is capable of delivering a maximum fuel efficiency of 12 kmpl. And to achieve this phenominal figure for an SUV Porsche has equipped the Cayenne S Diesel with automatic start/ stop function which is also the first in the world for a V8 equipped diesel SUV. Visually the new S Diesel looks similar to the petrol V8 powered Cayenne however, Porsche has slapped a “Diesel” badges on the front wings that let you know that a torquey V8 diesel lurks under the hood. The new Cayenne S Diesel will go on sale in January 2013 with a price tag of Rs 46 lakh (in USA) however, it will cost almost one crore when the company brings its to India.
