Tata Motors, the Indian automotive giant recently entered the Indonesian car market
where it intends on selling commercial as well as passenger vehicles. The wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors in Indonesia will be called PT Tata Motors and in 2013, the company will initiate the launch of its products. Tata Motors is also looking at setting up a production facility in order to localise the production. Initially, the company will have around 10-15 dealers and in the next three years Tata hopes to expand its dealer network to 60. On this occasion, Tata Motors new MD Karl Slym said, “We are happy and honoured to be in Indonesia. As elsewhere in the world and as is the Tata practice, we will function in Indonesia as an Indonesian company, responsive to and inspired by the needs and aspirations of the Indonesian customer and contributing to the communities among which we operate. We will establish deeply rooted local operations and will grow in tandem with the prosperity of the country and its people.”
