VW unveil the XL1 at Qatar Motor Show
Volkswagen unveiled their revolutionary concept vehicle, the XL1, at the recently concluded Qatar Motor Show. With a combined fuel consumption of just 0.9-litre/100 km and CO2 emissions of 24 kg/m, VW are probably justified in calling the XL1 the most efficient hybrid car in the world.
The credit for this staggering performance goes to its ultra-efficient bodywork, which is capable of achieving an aerodynamic drag ratio of just 0.186 Cd, and a new plug-in hybrid system consisting of a two cylinder TDI engine (48 PS), e-motor (27 PS), seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG) and lithium ion battery.
