Company plans revamp of current car models, introduction of new ones
THE TATA-FIAT JV HAS SEEN A LOT OF friction over the past few months. Recently, a Tata Motors spokesperson mentioned FIAT’s hesitation in introducing newer brands in the Indian market as being a hindrance in the company’s success.
Although the well-known Italian manufacturers have a variety of cars to suit Indian needs, their product quality, spares and service still remain a cause for concern.
In order to tackle these issues, FIAT have undertaken a major restructuring drive. Their plans include setting up showrooms independent of Tata with a view to creating FIAT’s independent identity.
On the product front, a comeback strategy will be applied to the Punto in the form of Punto Evo. Keeping in mind the
fiercely competitive Csegment, the Linea too will receive an aesthetic facelift. After a six-month dry spell in terms of
new product launch, FIAT plan to introduce a small car, which will be homologated for India.
