Luxury car likely to be launched in India soon
JAPANESE CAR-MAKERS, NISSAN Motors, plan to launch their luxury brand, the Infi niti, in India soon.
Unlike their current lineup consisting of the Micra, Teana and X-trail, Infi niti cars will not be sold through the company’s tie-up with Hover. There is speculation that Nissan will join hands with the Shreyans group for the sale of this premium brand. The Shreyans group is currently the sole importer of the Maserati, Ducati, Porsche and Ferrari.
That the Infi niti is likely to come to India is being heard since 2007, but 110 per cent of import duty always kept Nissan from taking action. However, looking at the increase in luxury car segment in the country, the company seems to have decided to take the fi nal step.
The Infi niti line-up comprises the G-series saloon (which will compete with the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series), the Mseries saloon (which will vie with the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series) and three SUVs – the EX series (which will compete with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5), the FX series (in rivalry with the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Mercedes ML Class) and the QX series (against the Mercedes GL class). Nissan offi cials have not confi rmed the launch date yet.
