Horsepower and muscle seem like relative terms till one drives a Ford Mustang. The iconic pony-car will soon arrive in India, probably with a choice of four or eight cylinders. This new one raised a lot of eyebrows with its turbocharged four-cylinder motor, but does it really raise the game? We take a closer look…

Muscle cars are a touchy topic. While some swear by them, others simply dismiss them as ill-handling heavy vehicles disguised as cars which change direction as easily as getting that horse to drink water. While that may have been true in the early years, what with petrol and drag-races going hand in hand, things have changed immensely.

The new Mustang — and I mean that in every sense of the word — is properly new. A new design, new engines and even all-new suspension. The fastback design is more aggressive and the trademark cues are all there. The big, intimidating front grille, the bulges on the bonnet and the muscular side profile all make this Mustang very Mustang, and very modern too. The striking Mustang logo – and not the blue oval – graces the grille; surely one of the more revered badges.
