The temple ticks all the boxes for what you would expect to see there, including the soft tolling of bells, delicately crafted idols, antiquated architecture, the pulsating lilt of chanted hymns permeating the air, and a legion of sadhus walking in and around the area complete with elaborate tikkas and prayer beads. The most fascinating aspect for me, though, was the larger-than-life raths(chariots) that were placed just outside the temple. They truly are a sight to behold, and the detailed carvings are especially breathtaking. A must-visit if you’re in the area.7.5

Having sufficiently explored the temple and the surrounding area, it was back to the Santa Fe and back on to the Edapally-Panvel highway for just over 200 km to the next stop. Our next port of call (pun intended) was the small coastal town of Karwar, which is just 20 kilometres shy of what was personally my most highly anticipated part of the journey – a jaunt around the awesomeness that is Goa. Although, before I get ahead of myself (again) and begin to wax lyrical about what is, in my opinion, the closest from of physical manifestation of the concept of heaven, I need to talk about Karwar and the road that leads there.
