Ford’s iconic muscle car, the Mustang, is going to turn 50 on April 17 and the company has big celebrations planned.
The Ford Mustang was first introduced in 1964 and went on to become one of the best selling lifestyle cars of the time. A big V8 was usually a signature, but today, we have a turbo-four and a V6 giving it company. Ford have worked regularly on updates and upgrades. Carroll Shelby’s work on the Mustang further added to its desirability and set a chain of customisation and tuning procedures off. The twin racing stripes and Cobra badge became legendary and even today, the Shelby Mustang GT500 is a revered piece of automotive art. The 2013 GT500 was one of the most affordable 650+ PS cars, bringing breathtaking performance to what was premium executive sedan territory.
Ford are celebrating not just with Mustang specific events, like a recreation of the 1964 Mustang on top of the Empire State Building scenario and two week-long events simultaneously held at two racetracks in Charlotte and Las Vegas in the US, no.
