Ford India have pulled the plug on Endeavour production with the new model set to arrive early next year.

According to the dealers, the current Ford Endeavour production has ceased and the new Endeavour is expected to arrive in February 2015. The new car will bring in several styling changes and important additions in a more contemporary avatar. For now, the company will focus on retailing the existing Endeavour 3.0 4×4 AT variant, some of which are still in stock.

Pictured here is the 2014 Ford Everest, as it is known overseas. In India, the Endeavour name is set to continue with the badge being a popular one.

On the driveline front, the current 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre TDCi four-cylinder diesel motors will be given the boot in favour of a more modern 2.2-litre TDCi motor with 148 PS and 375 Nm of torque – just 8 PS and 5 Nm less than what the old 3.0 used to produce. The new engine will see a greater level of refinement and also better fuel economy. Manual and automatic versions with 4×2 or 4×4 drive are also expected to be available.

The pricing too, in all probability, will be along similar lines: in the region of the Rs 24-28 lakh (OTR, Pune) bracket.
