The theme inside is again of subtle magnificence but if you’re stepping into the cabin for the very first time in your life, you can’t help being dazzled by the luxury on offer. Finely stitched high-grade leather meshes with brilliantly crafted brushed aluminium panels and inserts to create an interior that spells opulence with a capital O. The mouth also forms that particular letter, albeit silently, when you see the equipment on offer. There’s a mind-boggling array of creature comforts — from massage seats, Mark Levinson surround sound and individual DVD players for the rear passengers to a 12.3-inch split screen multimedia system that allows immediate and simultaneous access to maps as well as audio or climate controls. Oh, wait. Did I mention that the navigation can also be activated by voice commands? Well, it does respond to voice commands. For the tech-orientated there’s also the Lexus Enform App Suite that allows access to a range of apps from the car’s centre console. Of course, what the final specs of the India-bound vehicle will be, we don’t know yet, but to have even half of this list would be a rather significant features arsenal to offer prospective customers. One feature of particular interest is the four-zone climate concierge (as Lexus call it). This system measures and maintains the preset temperature across four separate climate zones. It not only maintains a particular temperature in the cabin but also ensures that the seats and even the steering wheel’s temperature is kept controlled in order to ensure the maximum comfort for the passengers. The LS 600h also boasts of a business class like seating arrangement for one rear passenger (the one diagonally across the driver) and is a genuine five-seater once you’ve stowed away the central armrest. So far as space goes, the cabin of this car might as well have been your drawing room. Fine, so I’m exaggerating but then that’s how spacious it really feels inside the cabin. The company claims that there’s nearly 933 mm of leg-room, over 1,432 mm of shoulder-room and 965 mm of head-room on offer for rear passengers. For the front passenger and driver, there’s nearly 1,110 mm of leg-room, 1,486 mm of shoulder-room and 965 mm of head-room. Even making for allowances, it’s easy to guess that the cabin of the Lexus LS 600h L is voluminous. More on page 3>
