Nissan Worldwide President and CEO Carlos Ghosn has confirmed that the company will be launching a five-door hatchback ‘Go’, targeted at the middle-class, in 2014.
The car features a wide stance and claims to offer ample headroom for all passengers. The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine (presumably to duck under the small car norms) delivering its power via a manual transmission system. Attractive features of the car include a mobile docking station to connect smartphones and other personal media devices to the car audio system.
Mr Ghosn also confirmed that the car will be priced “under INR 400,000″ (Rs 4 lakh) and will offer features of higher category cars at a lower price. He also revealed the company’s plan to introduce close to ten new products under the Datsun brand and hopes to garner market share of about 10 per cent by 2016.
