Milestone
This month we are celebrating the landmark of 200th issue of the Car India magazine. On this occasion I would like to thank all our readers and the manufacturers for their support. I would also like to thank my entire team for their hard work and dedication throughout the pandemic to bring out the magazine. It has always been a team effort.
When Next Gen Publishing commenced publication of Car India back in August 2005, it was the first dedicated car magazine as compared to other automotive magazines that combine cars, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles. Indeed, it was a bold move on the part of the management to launch dedicated car-only, two-wheeler-only, and commercial vehicle-only magazines. The passage of time has fully justified that move, for even today Car India is the only magazine in the country dedicated solely to four-wheelers.
Touching upon a recurrent issue, the Indian economy seems to be in a recovery mode, but the sales of new cars and sport utility vehicles (SUV) continue to be sluggish in most segments except for the luxury segment which seems to be posting good numbers; especially cars costing more than a crore of rupees are in high demand.
We are supposed to have a fuel policy whereby the price of petrol and diesel is commensurate with the international price of crude oil. Unfortunately, however, that does not seem to be the case. Crude oil costs over US $110 a barrel but the price of fuel in India has not changed owing to the Legislative Assembly election in five states. Once the election is over, we are sure to witness a considerable hike in fuel prices. The ordinary citizen would wish we had elections being conducted throughout the year, so the government would not increase the price of fuel!
